Murray A. Newton
President, Industrial Gas Users Association
The Industrial Gas Users Association (IGUA) represents various industrial companies who consume natural gas in their industrial operations located in the Canadian provinces of Manitoba, Ontario and Québec.
Murray has over 30 years of private and public sector regulatory and business development experience working in Canada’s petroleum industry. He began his career with Canada’s Department of Energy, Mines and Resources (now Natural Resources Canada) before the joining the National Energy Board. Mr. Newton has held positions with the Independent Petroleum Association of Canada, TransCanada PipeLines Limited, Irving Oil Limited and PetroKazakhstan Inc. Murray also established an independent energy consulting business (ENREG Resources Group Inc.) where he provided various commercial and regulatory services for several North American energy industry clients.
Mr. Newton has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from St. Patrick’s College (now Carleton University) as well as various utility finance and accounting courses taken over the past fifteen years.
Murray joined IGUA in January 2007 and he both works and resides in Ottawa, Ontario.
